Eclipse
A rare astronomical phenomenon, the eclipse carries with it the power to provide transformations, renewals and new beginnings. Whether lunar or solar, it happens when a celestial body gets in the way of another star and a source of light. It is a unique moment, where the alignment between the Earth, Moon and Sun occurs. The lunar eclipse, which happens at least twice a year, is characterized by the moment when the Moon enters the Earth's shadow area, when our planet is aligned with the Sun. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon is between the Earth and the Sun, causing sunlight to be obscured by the Moon.
Alluding to the impacts, learning and experiences that the Covid-19 pandemic caused in everyone's lives and worldwide, the eclipse symbolizes a phase of new beginnings and directions, represented, in this case, by the resumption of activities, due to the advance of vaccination. It was with this in mind that the UP Time Art Gallery, an itinerant art gallery that seeks to democratize and disseminate the best in the contemporary art scene, presented the exhibition “Eclipse”, which takes place from March 25 to May 25, in the charming Le'Bou Food Art bistro, located in Itaim Bibi, an upscale neighborhood in São Paulo. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
“The exhibition celebrates each artist’s vision of a moment of transformation, healing and rebirth, using the eclipse as a metaphor for the Covid-19 pandemic, as this astronomical phenomenon is seen as a huge energy portal”, explains Marisa Melo. , curator of the exhibition and founder of the UP Time Art Gallery. Among paintings, sculptures and photographs, the public will be able to check out the works of 14 talented artists who, through art, convey and reveal feelings and emotions about the period of social isolation. “It is with great happiness and gratitude that we carry out this special and unique exhibition, which marks the vision of each artist from a new perspective: that of a 'new normal'”, concludes the businesswoman from the art world.
